Basketball Teams Win at Pacelli

COLUMBUS, Ga.- The First Presbyterian Day School girls (2-1) and boys (3-0) basketball teams swept the St. Anne Pacelli Vikings en route to gaining two victories on the road Tuesday night, December 4.

In the girls game, FPD struggled offensively, but scored enough to gain the victory with a 37-20 win. Hannah Davis led the team with 15 points while Savannah Phillips knocked in six points.

The boys also cranked out a win, defeating Pacelli 73-64.

TJ Sams led the team in scoring, draining 25 points and corralling nine rebounds. Caleb Dupree was impressive, posting a double-double of 20 points and 15 caroms. O’Showen Williams posted 12 points and five assists and Sam Pope chipped in with 11 points.

FPD led by eight at intermission and never gave up the lead in the second period.

Both Viking basketball teams return to the court on Friday, December 7 as they welcome the Brookstone Cougars to the Middlebrooks Athletic Center for the home opener. The girls tip things off at 6:00 p.m. and the boys follow at 7:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics, home to multiple region and state championships in both the GISA and GHSA, strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while continuing to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory. Now a member of the GHSA, the Vikings have continued to provide FPD athletes, coaches, fans and spectators a positive, Christian environment on a daily basis.
