MACON, Ga.- The First Presbyterian Day School girls (2-5) and boys (5-2) basketball teams split its home doubleheader on Friday, December 14 with the Harris County Tigers as the girls fell 60-44 and the boys claiming a 64-57 win.

In the girls game, the Lady Vikings and Tigers were knotted up 12-12 after the first quarter thanks to some key three-point shooting from senior guard Hannah Davis, who knocked in all of her three-pointers during the first half.

The Lady Vikings lead 28-24 at intermission, but a troublesome fourth quarter with key turnovers late in the game led to the loss. The girls led 34-30 at the end of third quarter, but Harris County rattled off 30 points in the fourth frame while the Lady Vikings scored 14 points in the final quarter.

Savannah Phillips netted 21 points in the defeat while Davis finished the night with 12 points.

In the boys game, the Vikings held on for a 64-57 victory after controlling much of the contest. A valiant Harris County comeback was thwarted down the stretch by the Vikings as FPD earned its fifth win of the season and snapped a two game slide.

The Vikings led by 12 points at the end of the first quarter and took a 28-16 lead into halftime.

In the second half, FPD stretched its lead to 48-26 at the end of the third quarter, but the Tigers came roaring back to cut the lead to as little as three points late in the game. However, key buckets from freshman O’Showen Williams and junior TJ Sams aided the Viking victory.

Williams ended the night with 22 points, while Sams finished with 13. Kaleb Fuller chipped in nicely off the bench with key shooting, knocking in nine points as well.
