Soccer Splits at Home in First Region Games of the Year

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School boys and girls soccer teams hit the field on Tuesday, March 19, welcoming Pacelli in its first region games of the 2013 season.

In the boys game, the Vikings (5-4, 0-1 Reg. 7A) could not recover from an early two-goal deficit, falling 2-1.

Pacelli netted an own goal along with a goal from Zane Ketchum in the first half to lead 2-0.

In the second half, the Vikings struck for a goal when Michael Oates found Spencer Ennis to make it a 2-1 contest.

FPD would not score again and Pacelli hung on for the victory.

FPD keeper Jeremy Overman notched 14 saves in goal as Pacelli outshot FPD 13-3.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (8-1-1, 1-0 Reg. 7A) scored three goals in the first half and two in the second period to secure a 5-0 victory and snap a one game losing skid.

Atalia Ramirez scored two goals in the first period to secure the Lady Viking victory.

Annie Kate Barnes, Jane Howell and Brooke Battson scored a goal each for FPD, who outshot Pacelli 32-1 on the night. Amy Morgan, Howell and Laney Elliott recorded assists for FPD on the night as well.

In the net, FPD keeper Claire Crawford secured one save while Pacelli’s Chelsee Wright tallied 23 saves.

With the win, the girls soccer team is now 48-0 in the GHSA dating back to the 2011 season.

The soccer teams return to the home pitch on Thursday, March 21, taking on Georgia Military College Prep. The girls kickoff at 5 p.m. and the boys follow at 7 p.m.
