Baseball Win Streak Reaches 16 with Win Over Strong Rock on Senior Night

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School baseball team kept its winning streak alive on Monday night, April 8, defeating Strong Rock Christian School 12-7 on Senior Night at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

The win for the Vikings (16-0) sets a new school record for consecutive wins to start a season, a mark that has been broken four previous times this year.

FPD led 2-0 after two innings and 9-3 after three innings. The Vikings outhit the Patriots 12-5 on the night to secure the victory.

Altogether, eight different players recorded a RBI for the Vikings. Senior Scott McCormick drove in three runs while fellow senior Sam Pope accounted for two RBI’s to lead FPD.

Sam Jones (4-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Vikings. Josh Weaver and Hunter Hotchkiss also threw for FPD on the night, combining for seven strikeouts.

The baseball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday, April 10, taking on Westside High School at Luther Williams Field at 6 p.m.
