Soccer Shuts Out Dooly County at Home, Clinch GHSA Playoff Spot

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys soccer team hit the field on Wednesday, April 3, taking on region opponent Dooly County in a scheduled doubleheader.

In the girls game, the Lady Vikings (10-1-1, 3-0) won in convincing fashion 10-0.

Atalia Ramirez and Jane Howell each netted a hat trick for FPD. Annie Kate Barnes, Brooke Battson, Bailey Heard and Nicolle Smith also scored a goal in the win.

FPD notched eight assists on the night as well, led by the two of Katey Griggs and Heard.

The Lady Vikings outshot Dooly County 23-0 en route to its third consecutive win.

The girls soccer program has now outscored opponents 64-2 this season. FPD has not lost a match at home since joining the GHSA and is 50-0 at home since the 2011 season.

In the boys game, the Vikings (7-4, 2-1) also found good fortune, defeating Dooly in the nightcap 10-0 to win its second straight game.

FPD was led by the hat trick of Kevin Griggs and the two goals each of Cole Morton and Bradley Mullis.

Griggs also had seven assists while Christian Moore and Mullis each recorded one assist.

The Vikings outshot Dooly County 18-5 and senior keeper Jeremy Overman corralled five saves.

With the wins against Dooly County, both FPD soccer teams clinched a spot in the GHSA State Playoffs.

The girls and boys soccer teams return to the field quickly, traveling to Savannah for a two-day tournament against Calvary Day and Savannah Arts on April 5-6. Game times are listed on the girls and boys soccer pages on www.fpdvikings.com.
