Girls & Boys Soccer, Baseball and Tennis GHSA Playoff Information

MACON, Ga. – First Presbyterian Day School has multiple teams competing in various rounds of the 2013 GHSA State Playoffs this week, May 6-11, 2013.

Information on the games are listed below.

 

GIRLS SOCCER:

Opponent: Athens Academy (Athens, Ga.)

Mascot: Spartans

When: Tuesday, May 7

Where: FPD Soccer Complex (FPD Main Campus)

Time: 6 p.m.

Cost: $7.00

Records: FPD 15-1-2; Athens Academy 10-5-0

Head Coach: FPD – Josh Trieste; Athens Academy – Steve Stewart

Notes: The Lady Vikings, the 2013 Area 2 Champions, enter into the GHSA Playoffs after a first-round bye…FPD will be vying for its third straight GHSA Class A Title after winning back-to-back state championships in 2011 and 2012…The Lady Vikings have not lost on its home field in 61 months…FPD has outscored opponents 94-5 this season…FPD has posted 13 shutouts on the 2013 campaign…Athens Academy most recently defeated Savannah Christian to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

 

BASEBALL:

Opponent: The Darlington School (Rome, Ga.)

Mascot: Tigers

When: Game 1 (Wednesday, May 8); Game 2 (Wednesday, May 8); Game 3, if necessary (Thursday, May 9)

Where: Ben Harden Memorial Field (FPD Main Campus)

Time: Game One – 4 p.m.; Game Two – 7 p.m.; Game Three (Thursday) – TBD

Cost: $7.00 for Games 1 & 2; $7.00 for Game 3 (if necessary)

Records: FPD 22-1, Darlington 24-4.

Head Coach: FPD – Jim Turner; Darlington – Kent Harrison.

Notes: The Vikings advanced to Round Two of the GHSA State Playoffs after defeating Christian Heritage in two games, 4-1 and 2-0, in round one. FPD is the #4 seed and Darlington is the #5 seed…FPD won the Region 7A Championship…FPD has won five straight after dropping its only decision of the year to Veterans…Darlington most recently defeated Hebron Christian in the first round in two games, 9-0 and 8-0, respectively.

 

 

BOYS TENNIS

Opponent: Pace Academy (Atlanta, Ga.)

Mascot: Knights

When: Wednesday, May 8

Where: Riverview Road Athletic Complex (Pace Tennis Courts)

Time: 4 p.m.

Record: FPD 20-0

Head Coach: FPD – Derek Lashley; Pace Academy – Neil DeRosa

Notes: The Vikings advanced to the GHSA State Final Four after defeating Lakeview in the Quarterfinals 4-0 on May 2…In the win vs. Lakeview, FPD earned singles wins from Daniel Strawn and Michael Durham while Max Chandler/Dylan Liles and Tristan Hilyer/Brooks Hanson took both doubles matches…Strawn has not lost a match this season…Pace Academy most recently defeated Calvary Baptist 3-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Notes: The Vikings advanced to the second round after defeating ELCA 3-0 on Friday, May 3…Matthew Feagin, Kevin Griggs and Christian Moore scored goals for FPD…FPD finished as the #2 seed from Area 2 after defeating Brookstone on penalty kicks on April 18…The Vikings have outscored opponents 51-26 this season…FPD has totaled 10 shutouts on the year…Athens Academy earned a bye in Round One from winning its Area…The Spartans most recently defeated Winder-Barrow High School 2-1 on April 24.
