MACON, Ga. – First Presbyterian Day School has multiple teams competing in various rounds of the 2013 GHSA State Playoffs this weekend, May 10-11, 2013.

Information on the games are listed below.

 

GIRLS SOCCER:

Opponent: Calvary Day School (Savannah, Ga.)

Mascot: Cavaliers

When: Friday, May 10

Where: M.C. Anderson Field Complex

Time: 7 p.m.

Cost: $7.00

Records: FPD 16-1-2; Athens Academy n/a

Notes: The Lady Vikings advanced to the third round of the GHSA State Playoffs after defeating Athens Academy 7-2 on May 7 at home…Atalia Ramirez scored two goals and had four assists in the win over Athens Academy…FPD will be vying for its third straight GHSA Class A Title after winning back-to-back state championships in 2011 and 2012…FPD has outscored opponents 101-7 this season…FPD has posted 13 shutouts on the 2013 campaign…The Lady Vikings defeated Calvary Day 6-0 back on April 5…Calvary Day defeated ELCA 2-1 in Round Two to advance to the third round.

BOYS TENNIS

Notes: The Vikings advanced to the GHSA State Finals after defeating Pace Academy on the road 3-2 on May 8…In the win vs. Pace, FPD earned singles wins from Daniel Strawn and Michael Durham while Max Chandler/Dylan Liles and Tristan Hilyer/Brooks Hanson  dropped both doubles matches…Miller Durham, returning from an ankle injury, clinched the third set and match for FPD…Strawn has not lost a match this season…The Wolverines most recently defeated Athens Academy 3-1 in the semifinals.

 

BOYS SOCCER:

Opponent: Our Lady of Mercy (Fayetteville, Ga.)

Mascot: Bobcats

When: Saturday, May 11

Where: Our Lady of Mercy Soccer Field

Time: 7 p.m.

Records: FPD 12-6-1, Our Lady of Mercy 7-6.

Notes: The Vikings advanced to the third round after defeating Athens Academy 5-2 on Wednesday, May 8…Christian Moore scored three (3) goals for FPD in the win…The Vikings also won in the first round, defeating ELCA 3-0…FPD finished as the #2 seed from Area 2 after defeating Brookstone on penalty kicks on April 18…The Vikings have outscored opponents 56-28 this season…FPD has totaled 10 shutouts on the year…The Bobcats most recently defeated Savannah Country Day 4-1 to advance to the third round.
