Softball Picks Up Region Win vs. Twiggs County

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School softball team quickly erased the thoughts of its region loss last week to GMC, winning 17-0 over Twiggs County in three innings on Tuesday night.

The Lady Vikings pounded out 13 hits including an inside-the-park home run from Emily Rutledge to win with ease.

FPD scored 13 runs in the first inning followed by four in the second frame. Maggie Renfroe and Mary Micah Lee doubled and Renfroe added a triple to secure the victory.

Carli Sutton (11-3) picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Vikings. The righty struck out five batters and allowed one hit. Ashleigh Powers also threw an inning in relief, surrendering one hit and fanning one.

The Lady Vikings return to the diamond quickly, welcoming the Perry Lady Panthers to the FPD Softball Complex on Wednesday, Sept. 18. First pitch is scheduled for 5:55 p.m.

FPD has split its two games against the Lady Panthers this season, falling 1-0 on Aug. 24 and winning 4-3 in 8 innings on Aug. 28. Both games were played at Perry.
