Girls Hoops Defeats HoCo. in Home Opener

MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Sydney Reese nailed two free throws late followed by a layup, sending the FPD girls basketball team (1-2) to a 34-30 victory in their home opener against the Houston County Lady Bears (1-5) at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on Tuesday night, Dec. 10.

Reese netted 10 points in the contest coupled with Savannah Phillips’ 14 to pace the Vikings to their first win of the season.

FPD led early in after the first quarter at 7-3 and at halftime 13-10.

In the second half, FPD outscored the Lady Bears 21-20 to hold on for the win.

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by the 11 points of Autumn Ring, respectively.

The Lady Vikings return to action on Friday night, Dec. 13, traveling to play Harris County in a non-region game in Hamilton, Ga.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
