Soccer’s Katey Griggs Signs with Truett-McConnell

MACON, Ga. – Senior midfielder Katey Griggs signed a national letter of intent to play soccer with Truett-McConnell on Thursday, February 6 in the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on FPD’s campus.

The signing was the third this year for the Class of 2014 as softball’s Caitlin Collins and football’s Caleb Samuel have already signed with their respective schools.

“It’s an outstanding accomplishment,” head coach Josh Trieste said. “She is a distinctive and unique player.”

Griggs has been an integral part to the Lady Vikings’ success throughout her career.

The team has posted an incredible 57-1-1 record against GHSA teams and has never lost a region match over that span.

A four-year starter and letterman, Griggs currently holds the second spot in career steals with 880. She stands at ninth all-time in program history with 28 assists and tenth in goals with 45.

“She has accomplished many things in her career,” Trieste said. “Her resume will continue to grow as her senior season is just beginning.”

For her efforts, Griggs has earned a spot on the Macon Telegraph’s All-Middle Georgia team the last three years and was named an All-Class All-Star in 2012 and 2013 for classes A-6A.

A team captain, the senior has been part of four Final Four teams and two state championship squads in a Lady Viking uniform.

“She has had an impact on the soccer program, for sure,” Trieste said. “Her teammates have benefited in limitless ways with her as part of their team.”

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory.
