Wilco Lady Warriors Outlast Lady Vikings

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls basketball team (12-7, 5-2 Reg. 7) saw its six-game winning streak halted on Friday night, January 31, falling to the Wilkinson County Lady Warriors (13-7, 6-1 Reg. 7) 56-49 at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center in region play.

A back-and-forth contest saw a tie game at 43-43 at the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Warriors pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring FPD 14-6 to secure the win and the regular season region 7 title.

Three Lady Vikings scored in double-figures, paced by the 15 points of sophomore Sydney Reese. Senior Savannah Phillips netted 13 points and freshman Kate Patterson notched 13 points, respectively.

Wilkinson County was able to capitalize from the free-throw line, hitting 22 of their 26 charity tosses for over 84 percent.

Senior Lizzie Lisenby led FPD in rebounding, totaling nine caroms in the defeat.

With her 13 points, Phillips needs 41 points to join the one thousand point club at FPD.

FPD returns to action quickly, hosting Landmark Christian on Saturday afternoon, February 1 at 4 p.m. on Senior Night.
