Wrestling’s Martin Wilson and Liam Bassett Advance to State

ROME, Ga. – The FPD wrestling team was in action on Saturday morning at the GHSA Sectionals, with two Vikings earning bids to the GHSA State Meet.

Senior Martin Wilson captured the Sectional Championship in the 220 pound weight class and will compete at the State Meet Friday-Saturday, February 14-15 at the Gwinnett Arena.

Liam Bassett also had a strong showing at the Sectional Meet, finished second in the 120 pound weight class.

“Fundamental wrestling advanced these guys along,” head coach Ken Garvin said. “We are proud of everyone’s efforts at Sectionals and look forward to Martin and Liam representing our school at State.”
