Boys First, Girls Second in Viking Invitational Track Meet

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls and boys track and field teams hosted the Viking Invitational at the Dick Frame Track and Field Complex on Saturday, March 8, with the boys taking first place overall and the girls finishing second.

The meet was a three team event that included Peach County, Northside and FPD.

In the boys meet, the Vikings scored 70 points on the day to outlast its opponents.

The Vikings finished in first place in eight of the 16 events on the day.

In the field competitions, Jonathan Raines took the top spot in the triple jump (41.04) and Josh Miller recorded a first place pole vault mark of 11.06 feet. Robby Watson was the top performer in the discuss for the Vikings with a throw of 134.11, respectively.

Highlighting the running events for the Vikings was Torrian McSwain, who bested the field in the 100-meter dash at 11.63 seconds. Christian Moore topped the competition in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.27 seconds while Will Martin took first in the 1600-meter run at 4:45.

In the girls meet, the Lady Vikings scored 60 points for a second place finish. Northside High School took first place on the day with 83 points.

Carson Dingler continued her impressive young career, setting a new pole vault record of 12 feet. Maggie Johnston stood alone at day’s end in discuss with a toss of 102.04.

Savannah Phillips and Madison Griffin finished first and second in the high jump at 5 and 4.06 feet.

Phillips also was the top performer for the Lady Vikings in 300-meter hurdles and the 100-meter hurdles.
