Girls and Boys Soccer Sweep Mary Persons

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls and boys soccer teams captured wins on Thursday night, March 27, defeating the Mary Persons High School Bulldogs in non-region play at the FPD Soccer Complex.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (12-0) took the match 3-1.

Emma Lako scored FPD’s first goal, who led 1-0 at halftime. The Lady Vikings added two more scores in the second period from Kate Patterson and Jane Howell to seal the win.

Amy Morgan and Maisyn Samples each picked up an assist on the night for FPD, who outshot the Lady Bulldogs 12-2.

Megan Sparks picked up two saves in the net for FPD, while Lady Bulldog keeper Caitlyn Stevenson tracked down 12.

Caitlyn Stevenson scored the lone goal for Mary Persons on a penalty kick.

The boys match took penalty kicks to decide, but the vikings (9-2-1) held on for the 2-1 win.

Cole Morton notched FPD’s lone goal in regulation while Dennis Miller knocked in Mary Person’s score.

The Vikings won in penalty kicks 3-1, with Morton, Kevin Griggs and Stephen Dance scoring.

FPD keeper Matthew Feagin corralled four saves and Mary Persons goalie Sam Watson nabbed three.

A battle at midfield, FPD edged out Mary Persons in shots 4-3.

The soccer teams will return to action on Tuesday, April 8. The boys will host Dooly County at 5 p.m. and the girls will take on Griffin High School at 7 p.m.
