Volleyball Serves Past West Laurens, Upson Lee on Senior Night

MACON, Ga. – The FPD volleyball team pushed its winning streak to five matches on Tuesday night, knocking off West Laurens 2-0 (25-23, 25-14) before defeating Upson Lee 2-0 (25-15/25-7) at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on Senior Night.

The Lady Vikings honored its four seniors – Madison Busbee, Tesch Jerles, Mikayla Mobley, and Alisha Napier – prior to the final match of the night against Upson Lee.

“It was a great night for our seniors,” head coach Sarah Futo said. “They have been a part of our program since it began a few years ago and have seen it grow into a premier sport at our school. Hopefully they’ll remember this night for years to come.”

In FPD’s win over the Lady Raiders of West Laurens, Abigail Pierce notched four kills and three aces. Mackenzie Johnson finished with three kills and Kate Patterson recorded two blocks.

The Lady Vikings followed up the win with a victory against the Lady Knights of Upson Lee in two sets. Pierce finished with four kills to total eight on the night. Mobley posted three aces and Johnson dropped in two kills.

FPD has won eight out of its past 10 matches dating back to Sept. 23.

The Lady Vikings (19-7) locked up the no. 2 seed from Class-A Area-2 earlier this season. FPD hosts Greenville, the no. 7 seed, in the first round of the Area-2 Tournament on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

First serve is scheduled at 5 p.m.
