Football’s Brad Powell Selected to Play in Rising Seniors Georgia Junior Bowl

MACON, Ga. – FPD junior kicker Brad Powell has been selected to play in the Rising Seniors Georgia Junior Bowl All-Star Game on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Grady Stadium in Atlanta.

The game showcases football juniors who have successfully participated in the organization’s Leadership and Educational programs and is a way to honor their accomplishments on and off the football field.

“We are proud of Brad and excited to see him play,” FPD head football coach Greg Moore said. “We know he’ll do well. Our entire team is supporting his efforts for his big day ahead.”

Powell will travel to Atlanta on Dec. 26 to participate in three-hour practices each day leading up to the game. The rest of the time will be spent attending classes and seminars geared toward SAT preparation, financial management and social media awareness.

Nearly 100 juniors across the state of Georgia were chosen to play in the game and will participate. Powell was chosen as the “Team Commitment” kicker and Jordan Strevig from Houston County was assigned to “Team Dedication.”

Powell has been a mainstay on the FPD special teams throughout the past two seasons. Through the end of the regular season in 2014, Powell has hit 90 percent of his PAT’s (36-for-41) and is 4-for-5 on field goal attempts, his longest a 35-yard make on Oct. 3 vs. Stratford.

Powell and the Vikings are back in action on Friday, Nov. 21, traveling to Prince Avenue for the first round of the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Wolverine Field.
