Lady Vikings Drop Region Match at Stratford 50-28

MACON, Ga. – A high-powered potent Stratford Eaglette offense doomed the FPD Lady Vikings on Friday night, dropping a 50-28 decision at the Grady Smith Gymnasium.

Bonnie Jarrard led the Eaglettes with 12 points as Stratford moved to 15-4 and 6-1 in GHSA Class-A Region-7 play. Teammate Daniella Chrabuszcz netted eight points as well.

“I thought we started off well in the first quarter,” FPD head coach John Griffin said. “But we ran into some problems in the middle of the game due to Stratford’s defensive pressure. You can’t make the mistakes we made against a good team like they have.”

Stratford led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter and pushed out to a 40-11 advantage after three quarters of action.

“They exposed our weaknesses and we didn’t respond well to their defensive pressure,” Griffin said. “We have to learn to make better choices with the basketball when other teams step up their defensive efforts.”

Sophomore Kate Patterson led the Lady Vikings (4-10, 3-4 Reg. 7A) with 12 points while Sydney Reese dropped in four.

The Lady Vikings return to action quickly, traveling to Columbus for a non-region contest at Brookstone on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. at Illges Gymnasium.
