Tattnall Too Much for Lady Vikings in 64-45 Region Loss

MACON, Ga. – It was a one-point deficit for FPD at the end of the first quarter, but the Tattnall Lady Trojans (20-2, 9-0 Reg. 7-A) outscored the Lady Vikings (5-12, 4-5 Reg. 7-A) 54-36 over the final three quarters of play resulting in a 64-45 loss on Friday night, Jan. 30 at Tattnall’s Athletic Center Gymnasium.

The win gives the Lady Trojans the 2014-15 regular season GHSA Region 7-A title.

“They are a really good team,” FPD head coach John Griffin said. “They don’t take off on any possession and they take care of the basketball. They have a very physical team and they play together as one unit.”

Sophomore Kate Patterson led the Lady Vikings with 18 points on the night. Classmate Emma Lako chipped in with 10 points.

“I thought we started off the game well and matched their intensity on the court,” Griffin said. “But the longer we went along in the game, our bad habits resurfaced and they took control of the game.”

Tattnall’s Kendra Green led all scorers with 16 points on seven made field goals. Jordan Allen and Haley Gordon finished with 14 and 10 respectively for the Lady Trojans, who pushed their winning streak to 14 games.

The Lady Trojans capitalized from behind the arc, nailing four 3-pointers on the night. Gordon led the squad with two made long-balls.

The Lady Vikings will look to rebound with a win at Eagles Landing Christian Academy on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31.

“We have to keep getting better and our girls know that,” Griffin said. “The more we keep that as the center of our focus, the better we will be as a team.”

Tip-off is slated for 2:30 p.m. in McDonough.
