Baseball Drops Home Game to Tattnall Square, 3-1

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity baseball team (11-3, 5-3 Reg. 7-A) saw its four-game winning streak halted on Thursday night, March 26, falling to the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans (14-0, 7-0 Reg. 7-A) 3-1 at Ben Harden Memorial Field in Region-7A action.

The Trojans struck for the first three runs of the contest.

In the top of the second, Jacob Dooley crossed home after an error on the Viking infield to take a 1-0 lead.

An inning later, the Trojans plated another run when FPD pitcher Gavin Bloodworth hit Tattnall’s Logan Simmons with the bases loaded to bring in Blake Simmons.

The Trojans’ final run of the contest came in the fourth frame on a Jonathan Ward solo home run to center field, giving Tattnall a 3-0 advantage.

FPD’s attempted to rally in the seventh inning, scoring one run on an Austin Cox double that plated Marshall Lyles.

Cory Bartholomew picked up the win on the hill for the Trojans, tossing seven innings and totaling seven strikeouts. Bloodworth (0-1) was charged with the loss.

FPD left 10 runners on base in the game while Tattnall totaled seven.

The Vikings are back in action after the spring break holiday, traveling to Strong Rock Christian on Tuesday, April 7.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Locust Grove, Ga.
