Boys Golf Takes Down Jones County at Healy Point

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys golf team fired a season-low 6-over-par en route to a 23 stroke victory (150-173) over the Jones County Greyhounds in a nine-hole match at Healy Point on Monday afternoon, March 16.

Leading the Viking attack on the links was sophomore Wesley Hanson, who a shot 1-under 35.

Junior Charles Stroud finished his round at even par (36) while freshman Wilson Andress signed his scorecard at 1-over (37).

“We had a great day on the links,” FPD head coach Charley Chase said. “Our guys stepped up and hit some big shots when we needed them to. I’m really happy to see us post some consistent scores the further we go along this season.”

Rounding out FPD’s top four scores was senior Brantley Wilson, who finished with a 6-over 42.

Jones County was paced by Colton McNeal’s 4-over 40.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings fell to the Lady Greyhounds 95-110.

Sophomore Cassidy Pearson lead the Lady Vikings, posting a 49 on the day.

The FPD golf teams return to action on Wednesday afternoon, March 18, hosting the Stratford Academy Eagles in a nine-hole match at Healy Point at 4 p.m.
