Soccer Sweeps Pike County Pirates at Home

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys and girls soccer teams hosted the Pike County Pirates on Thursday night, April 9 at the FPD Soccer Complex with the Vikings (7-5-2) finishing in a 1-1 draw while the Lady Vikings (11-3) claimed a 2-0 victory.

“These were a couple of nice wins after spring break,” FPD head coach Josh Trieste said. “Our boys keep fighting hard in their matches and our girls keep getting better each time they take the field.”

In the boys match, Dane Wiggins scored the lone goal for the Vikings off an assist from Landon Newberry. Pike’s Kirkley also added a score.

FPD keeper Dontrez Johnson picked up seven saves in the win.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings blanked the Lady Pirates 2-0 with goals from Jane Howell and Elizabeth Nelson.

Maggie Johnston and Sadie Frame each picked up an assist as the Lady Vikings outshot the Lady Pirates 10-0.

Both soccer teams return to action on Tuesday, April 14 hosting the Brookstone Cougars at the FPD Soccer Complex.

The boys match is set for 5:30 p.m. with the girls to follow at 7:30 p.m.
