Football Releases 2015 Schedule

MACON, Ga. – FPD head football coach Greg Moore and the varsity football program released the 2015 varsity schedule today, May 27, with plenty of games to highlight for the upcoming season for Viking Nation.

“We are always excited to release a new football schedule,” Moore said. “We think we have a tough schedule, but at the same time, one that will draw interest from our students, parents, alumni and fans of the school.”

After a scrimmage at home on August 14 against Central, FPD will open the season against 2-AAAA Howard High School on Thursday night, August 27 at Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium.

“This will be a neat way to start the season for both schools,” Moore said. “Having a chance to play at Mercer and playing on a Thursday night is something different, but unique and positive. Our guys will be ready to get things going.”

After an open week on Sept. 4, FPD returns to the gridiron on Sept. 11, traveling to Monticello High School for a matchup against the 4-AA Hurricanes.

FPD is back on the friendly confines of Calvin Dr. on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25, hosting GMC Prep and Lincoln County, respectively.

Sub-Region 7 action kicks off in a big way for the Vikings, as FPD travels to Stratford Academy on Oct. 2 followed by a trip to Mount de Sales on Oct. 9.

FPD will welcome back the classes 1975, ’80, ’85, ’90, ’95, ’00 and ’05 in its annual Homecoming Game on Oct. 16 vs. Tattnall Square Academy.

“Homecoming at FPD is always special,” Moore said. “It allows everyone to reconnect as a school family and it’s always a big night for our team.”

After a visit to Wilkinson County High School on Oct. 23, FPD returns home for Senior Night on Oct. 30 vs. Twiggs County.

“Honoring our seniors is something we have done for a long time,” Moore said. “We want to tell them as much as possible how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication to all of our sports teams throughout their final year in high school competition.”

Nov. 6 marks the date for Region-7 crossover matches, with details to be announced closer to that time.

If the Vikings qualify for the postseason, the GHSA Class-A Private State Playoffs would begin on Friday, Nov. 20.

All game times are set for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

A junior varsity and middle school schedule will be available in the coming weeks.
