Charles Stroud Named 2015 All-Middle Georgia Golfer of the Year

MACON, Ga. – For FPD rising senior Charles Stroud, the formula is simple: build a repeatable, fundamental swing.

He did just that and more throughout his junior season en route to being named the 2015 All-Middle Georgia Boys Golfer of the Year, announced Wednesday, June 17 by the Macon Telegraph.

“I’m really honored to be the All-Middle Georgia Golfer of the Year,” Stroud said. “There are a bunch of great players in this part of the state and to be recognized as one is truly special.”

“Charles is a coach’s dream,” FPD head coach Charley Chase said. “His talents are obvious: he has a great swing, is long off the tee, and has an enviable short game.”

But to Chase and the FPD family, Stroud is more than just a golfer.

“He is a quality young man who supports his teammates, respects the game, and one who always displays consummate sportsmanship. He has honored the Lord and brought credit to his parents and FPD this year. He richly deserves this honor.”

Stroud, who was selected to the All-Middle Georgia Golf Team in 2014, completed his junior season with a stroke average of 75. He carded two sub-par rounds in 9-hole matches as well.

At the GHSA Class-A State Tournament, Stroud finished 17th with a 77.

The righty is also a familiar face in many junior tour events and local tournaments.

Just recently, Stroud finished as runner-up in his flight at the Peach Blossom Tournament at Idle Hour Country Club in Macon.

It’s that type of work ethic that Chase says will suit him well during his senior season.

“He’s going to be a key piece for us next year,” Chase said. “We are all proud of him.”

Added Stroud: “Receiving this award really shows me that hard work pays off.”

Rising junior Cassidy Pearson, a member of the FPD varsity girls golf team, was also named an Honorable Mention on the All-Middle Georgia Girls Golf Team.
