Football Falls in Preseason Scrimmage to Central 40-21

MACON. Ga. – The FPD varsity football team dropped its preseason scrimmage on Friday night 40-21 to the Central High School Chargers at Austin Childers Field at George S. Johnson Stadium.

Below are the top performers from the contest for FPD and post-game video comments from head coach Greg Moore in the after-game team talk and with Sports Information Director Chandler Lee.

The Vikings officially begin their 2015 campaign on Thursday, August 27, taking on the Howard High School Huskies at Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium.

FPD defeated Howard last season in thrilling fashion, claiming a 26-25 OT win at home.

TOP PERFORMERS:

— Soph. Armaun Smith: Rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown on six attempts. His touchdown came in the second half.

— Sr. RB Reggie Gantt: Rushed for 37 yards on nine attempts in the first half.

— Fr. RB Josh Raines: Finished with 38 rushing yards on seven attempts, all in the second half.

— Sr. WR Garrison Hotchkiss: Caught a 38-yard pass from QB and fellow classmate Will McCormick in the first half for FPD’s first score of the contest.

— Soph. RB Robert Johnson: Finished with 41 yards receiving and rushed 18 yards on five attempts. Scored FPD’s final touchdown of the night from 3-yards out with 8:46 in the fourth quarter.

— Sr. K Brad Powell: Was a perfect 3-for-3 on PAT attempts for the Vikings against Central.
