A FAMILIAR SCRIMMAGER: Central and FPD are no strangers to each other, having scrimmaged before the regular season multiple times over the past few years.

In 2014, both teams hooked up at Henderson Stadium, where FPD used to play their home games before George S. Johnson Stadium was completed in the 1980’s.

LAST TIME OUT vs. CENTRAL: The Vikings dropped last year’s scrimmage to the Chargers at Henderson Stadium in Macon 28-20.

NEVER FACED OFFICIALLY: Although both teams scrimmage each other, there is no record of an official contest between FPD and Central.

43rd EDITION: The 2015 season marks the 43rd year of FPD football. FPD has delivered countless Friday night memories since starting it’s program in the 1970’s. To date, FPD’s overall program record stands at 305-176-5.

115 WINS and COUNTING: FPD head coach Greg Moore picked up his 100th win during the 2012 season with a victory at Hancock Central. Nearly two years later, the skipper has earned his 115th victory at the helm after a 31-7 win at GMC Prep on Nov. 7. Moore is the overall leader in program wins with 115, followed by Mark Farriba (77) and Bobby Brown (72).

2014 a SEASON to REMEMBER: FPD advanced to the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs for a fourth consecutive season before falling at Prince Avenue in the first round. FPD also picked up its 300th win in program history with a thrilling 26-25 OT victory over Howard. The game marked the first time two Bibb County public and private schools had played since 1965 when Mark Smith bested Mt. de Sales 20-0.

WELL WORTH THE MOVE: Since joining the GHSA, the Vikings have enjoyed success on the local and statewide level. FPD has never had a losing season while in the league, posting an overall record of 32-22.

FPD’s best year in the GHSA was in 2011, finishing at 8-3 overall.

HOME COOKING: Since moving to the GHSA in 2010, the Vikings are 14-9 inside the friendly confines of George S. Johnson Memorial Stadium. FPD has won at least three games at home in each season but one (2011) since becoming a member of the league.

The Vikings finished 2014 with a home record of 4-1 with wins against Howard (Aug. 29), Monticello (Sept. 12) and Mt. de Sales (Oct. 10) and Wilkinson County (Oct. 24).

ON DECK: After a week off, the Vikings will officially open the 2015 season against the Howard Huskies on Thursday nigh, August 27. The game will be a neutral site contest played at Mercer University’s Five Star Stadium in Macon.

The last time the Vikings opened their season in GHSA play on a Thursday night was in 2010 against Irwin County. FPD defeated the Indians 26-8 at George S. Johnson Stadium on Aug. 26.

Prior to the 2010 Thursday opener, FPD’s last season opener on a Thursday night came back in the 1997 campaign. FPD fell at Tattnall Squre 35-14 on Aug. 28, 1997 under former head coach Cater Pierce.
