Girls Shutout Westminster 3-0, Boys Drop 2-1 Contest at Home

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity soccer program split a pair of home matches on Tuesday night, with the Lady Vikings (10-0-3) garnering a 3-0 shutout over the Westminster Lady Wildcats before the Wildcats defeated the Vikings (8-5-2) 2-1 in the nightcap at the FPD Soccer Complex.

In the girls match, FPD got all of its scoring done early in the match, with a goal each from Kate Patterson, Molly Lee and Emma Lako.

Elizabeth Nelson notched one assist in the victory as the Lady Vikings out-shot the Lady Wildcats 17-9.

FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutoon corralled three saves while Westminster’s Abey Robertson snagged seven.

In the boys match, the Vikings faced a 1-0 halftime deficit before trading goals with the Wildcats in the second period for the 2-1 defeat.

Jelanie Watson-Gayle and Noah Lee netted the goals for Westminster while FPD’s Henry Middlebrooks scored one.

The Wildcats retained possession of the ball throughout the match, owning an 18-7 shot advantage.

FPD goalie Dontrez Johnson finished with seven saves and Westminster’s Brandon Smith totaled three.

Both soccer squads return to the pitch on Friday, April 15, traveling to Brookstone for Area-2 matches.

Kickoff for the varsity girls match is at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity boys at 7:30 p.m. in Columbus, GA.
