Softball Recaps: Lady Vikings Finish 3-0 at Gordon Lee Tournament

Chattanooga, TN – The no. 1 rated GHSA Class-A Private FPD softball team (16-3) competed in the Gordon Lee Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17, finishing with a 3-0 record with victories over Armuchee on Friday, and defeating NW Whitefield and Coahulla Creek on Saturday afternoon.

With the victories, the Lady Vikings have now won nine straight games, their longest winning streak of the season.

Below are box scores and game recaps from the weekend.

Friday, Sept. 16, 2016:

FPD 5, ARMUCHEE 1

FPD 200-002-1 — 5-10-3

WP: Carli Sutton (5-2).

2B: FPD – Karsen Ochs.

HR: Amanda Evans.

Game notes: Evans was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI’s for FPD, including a 2-run home run…Katie Culver and Emily Rutledge each had one RBI for FPD…Sutton pitched five innings, allowing two hits while striking out three…Karsen Ochs tossed two innings of relief and totaled four strikeouts…The Lady Vikings led 2-0 after the first inning, 2-1 after the third inning and plated two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh…Ochs had three hits for FPD…Four players had multi-hit games for the Lady Vikings: Ochs, Rutledge, Allie Parkerson and Evans.

Game notes: The Lady Vikings scored three runs in the first to take a 3-0 lead but trailed 5-3 heading into the bottom of the second…FPD responded with six runs in the bottom of the second to the lead for good…Allie Parkerson was 2-for-3 with three RBI’s for FPD while Amanda Evans was 2-for-3 with three RBI’s…Carli finished the game with two RBI’s, going 1-for-3…Rutledge had one RBI for FPD…Ochs finished with nine strikeouts in five innings.

FPD 3, COAHULLA CREEK 2

Game notes: Sutton drove in Amanda Evans on a game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh…Abbey Surles was 1-for-3 with two RBI for FPD…Karsen Ochs was 2-for-4 for FPD…Snyder and Warnix each had one RBI for Coahulla Creek…Sutton tossed a complete game, striking out six and allowing no walks.

Record: FPD 16-3.
