Softball Takes Down Veterans Lady Warhawks 6-1 for 14th Consecutive Win

MACON, Ga. – Make that 14 consecutive wins.

The FPD Lady Vikings (22-3) scored a combined five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take down the 5A Veterans High School Lady Warhawks (9-11) 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the FPD Softball Complex.

After Karsen Ochs tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third with a solo home run to center field, the Lady Viking bats went to work in the fifth to take the lead for good.

Allie Parkerson drove in Sadie Frame for the go-ahead single followed by a single from Amanda Evans to plate Ochs for a 3-1 lead.

In the sixth inning, the Lady Vikings used another long ball, this time from Katie Culver, who hit a two-run blast over the right field fence, for a 5-1 advantage.

FPD tacked on one more in the inning when Evans singled home Gracie Slade for a 6-1 lead.

Ochs (12-1) retired the side in order in the seventh to seal the win. The righty totaled five strikeouts in the victory, allowing one run and scattering four hits.

The Lady Warhawks led for two innings, scoring in the top of the first on a Sarah Wilkerson double off the top of the wall in center field to bring in Anna Dumas.

The Lady Vikings responded with six unanswered runs.

Jenna West (8-4) was charged with the loss for Veterans.

With the win, FPD improves to 3-2 all-time against Veterans and takes the season series 2-0 after a 4-1 extra inning victory on August 25 on the road.

The Lady Vikings are back in action to close out the regular season on Friday, Sept. 30, taking on the Rutland Lady Hurricanes (12-13).

The Lady Hurricanes handed FPD one of its three losses on the year, a 10-8 win in FPD’s season opener on August 13.

First pitch Friday is slated for 3:30 p.m.
