Football Draws Aquinas in Round One of GHSA 1A Private State Tournament

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity football team (6-4), the no. 17 seed in the state playoffs, will travel to Augusta, Ga. on Friday, Nov. 11, for the first round of the GHSA Class 1A Private State Tournament to play the no. 16 seeded Aquinas Fightin’ Irsh (6-4) at 7:30 p.m.

With the playoff berth, the Vikings have now made the State Tournament for six consecutive seasons since joining the GHSA in 2010.

FPD trails the all-time series to Aquinas 2-0, with the last meeting coming in 2013 in a 33-32 loss in Augusta in the Region 7 Championship game.

Prior to 2013, the Vikings fell to Aquinas on Nov. 9, 2012, 42-14.

With a win on Friday, FPD would advance to the Sweet 16.
