Crawford & Vikings Slam Past Wilkinson 15-0

MACON, Ga.- First Presbyterian Day School senior Claire Crawford smashed a first inning grand slam and junior pitcher Caitlin Collins mowed down the Wilkinson County High School batters as the Viking softball team (15-10, 5-0 Reg. 7-A) remained undefeated on Thursday night, September 20 at the FPD Softball Complex, defeating the WCH Warriors 15-0.

The Vikings recorded the victory powering 15 hits in the run-ruling match.

FPD was led by Crawford, who went a perfect 3-for-3, notching a double, single and a grand slam while driving in four runs. Senior Hannah Davis also went 3-for-3 while freshman Jill Rogers and junior Mary Micah Lee put up two hits apiece.

The Viking squad wasted no time setting the tone, sending 13 batters to the dish and scoring 10 runs in the first inning. The Vikings plated three in the second and two in the third. Every player in the starting lineup recorded a hit for FPD in the win.

In the circle, Collins secured another masterful outing, allowing just two hits over three innings. The righty struck out four batters as well.

The offense has been the story for FPD lately, however. The Vikings have scored 45 runs in the past three games, all resulting in run-ruling victories. FPD has outscored its opponents 74-21 in the last eight games combined.

The FPD softball team returns to the diamond on Tuesday, September 25, traveling to Georgia Military College (GMC) Prep in a key Region 7-A showdown. The Vikings previously defeated GMC 9-1 on September 13.
