Girls and Boys Cross Country Take 5th at Wesleyan Invitational

NORCROSS, Ga.- The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys cross country teams raced to a fifth place finish on Saturday, September 15 at the Wesleyan Invitational hosted by The Wesleyan School.

The meet hosted 13 of the top GHSA Class A teams in the state.

In the girls meet, the Vikings tallied 115 points. FPD missed out of fourth by just three points. Other schools ahead of FPD included Landmark, Wesleyan, Collins Hill and overall winner Johns Creek.

Senior Danielle Ferro crossed the line for a 10th place finish overall with a time of 21:08. Next for FPD at 16th was Savannah Phillips at 21:54 and Jessica Smith at 20th at 22:05.

On the boys side, FPD posted 155 total points, finishing behind Mount Pisgah, Rockdale, Johns Creek and overall winner Collins Hill.

Will Martin placed 11th overall, posting a time of 17:35. Next for FPD in 21st was Patrick Hague at 18:10 and Sonny Bailey at 29th with a time of 18:22.

In every race thus far in the 2012 season, the FPD girls and boys cross country teams have placed 15th or better.

The Vikings are off to the races again Saturday, September 22, co-hosting the FPD/Warner Robins Invite at the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. The girls begin at 9:00 a.m., while the boys start at 10:00 a.m.
