Cross Country Posts Impressive Finishes at Viking Invitational

MACON, Ga.- The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys cross country teams posted impressive finishes at the Viking Invitational on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Georgia Children’s Home.

The girls won the race while the boys came in second place.

In the girls meet, Danielle Ferro crossed the finish line first out of all runners at 20:28. The Vikings had four other runners finish in the top-10: Jessica Smith (3rd, 21:09), Katie O’Quinn (5th 22:02), McKenzie Peterson (6th, 22:17) and Savannah Phillips (9th, 22:42).

The girls team finished with 24 points, beating out second place finisher Athens Christian by seven points.

In the boys race, FPD fought its way to a second place finish.

The Vikings had three runners place in the top-10, led by Will Martin’s 3rd place finish at 17:43. Next for FPD was Patrick Hague (9th, 18:06) and Sonny Bailey (10th, 18:12).

FPD tallied 45 points. Athens Christian posted 28 points to gain the team win for the boys.

Both cross country teams return to the course on Wednesday, October 24 in the Area Meet at the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. Times will be determined in the coming days.
