Cross Country Teams Race to Finish at Class A State Meet

MACON, Ga.- The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys cross country teams ran its final races of the 2012 season on Saturday, November 3 at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class A Private School State Championships. FPD was the host team, as all races on the day were held at the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home.

In the girls race, the Vikings finished sixth overall with 164 points, just three points behind fifth place finisher Pace Academy.

The girls were led by Jessica Smith (13th place, 20:35) and Danielle Ferro (18th, 20:58).

In the boys race, the Vikings posted a 12th place finish with 262 points. Will Martin paced the team, finishing in 45th with a time of 18:03. Next for the Vikings was Patrick Hague (52nd, 18:17).

Landmark Christian School won the overall meet for the Class A Private School Girls, while Athens Academy claimed first in the Class A Private School Boys Meet.

The season comes to an end for the Viking cross country teams. The 2012 campaign was a memorable won for the Red & Black, as both squads took home first place in the GHSA Area 1 Meet on October 24 to qualify for the State Meet.

The Vikings say goodbye to seniors Danielle Ferro, Grace Young, Conner Gettmann, Patrick Hague, Tanner Johnston, Michael Money and Joseph Watwood.

The FPD Athletic Department thanks the 2012 senior class for its leadership and service to the school over the past years.
