Football Wins Big at Warren County 45-8

WARRENTON, Ga.- Using a 28 point second quarter that included two passing touchdowns, a rushing score and a punt return for a touchdown, the First Presbyterian Day School football team (6-3, 4-2 GHSA Region 7-A) defeated Warren County 45-8 on Friday, November 2, 2012.

The Vikings struck first in the first quarter when FPD kicker Conner Albright nailed a 32-yard field goal to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

The scoring outburst for FPD began in the second quarter when Kaleb Fuller returned a Warren County punt 87 yards for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 10-0 lead at the 10:41 mark.

FPD scored two minutes later on a Will McCormcik seven yard run to make it 17-0.

Will McCormick then threw for two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the first half, finding teammates Alec Martin and brother Scott McCormick to give the Vikings a 31-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, a running clock and two scores aided the Vikings further in the victory. Darron Moore found the end zone on a 49-yard touchdown run along with a 14-yard reception by Will Black in the third quarter.

Warren County’s lone score came from a Richard Wilburn two-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Will McCormick was 7-for-13 passing with 220 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions for the Vikings. Scott McCormick led FPD receiving, tallying 82 yards on four receptions. Moore led the Red & Black in rushing, running for 123 yards on six carries.

The Viking defense was stellar all evening, holding the Screaming Devils to single digits.

FPD returns to the gridiron on Friday, November 9, hosting the Aquinas Fighting Irish on Senior Night 2012 in the final regular season game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at George S. Johnson Memorial Stadium on the campus of FPD.
