Baseball Wins at Home vs. Pacelli, Sets New School Record for Consecutive Wins to Start a Season

MACON, Ga. – Down by two runs with two innings to play, the First Presbyterian Day School baseball team (13-0) rattled off six unanswered runs en route to a 10-6 win over Pacelli on Monday night, March 25.

The win marks the thirteenth consecutive victory for the Vikings, a new school record for the baseball program to start a season.

FPD led 4-3 after three frames, but Pacelli scored three runs of its own to take a 6-4 lead heading into the fifth.

The Vikings pulled together to score five runs in the fifth to take the lead for good when Scott McCormick singled home Neal Tolbert and Will McCormick.

Both the McCormick brothers combined to go 5-for-7 with five RBI’s on the night as the Red & Black outhit Pacelli 15-6.

Hunter Hotchkiss homered to help power the Vikings past Pacelli as well.

Austin Cox (1-0) recorded his first victory of the season on the mound. The southpaw held Pacelli hitless over 3.2 innings of work and struck out six.

FPD also won its game at Aquinas on Friday, March 22, 8-7.

The Vikings have outscored opponents 136-47 on the year, respectively.

FPD returns to the diamond after a week off from the spring break holiday, welcoming Wilkinson County High School to Ben Harden Field on Monday, April 2. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
