Baseball Wins at Perry 7-1

PERRY, Ga. – Quickly back on the diamond for the its second game of the 2013 season, the First Presbyterian Day School baseball team (2-0) did not disappoint, defeating Perry High School 7-1 on Thursday, Feb. 28.

Sam Jones tossed a complete game and struck out four en route to the Viking win.

Perry scored its only run of the contest in the bottom of the first but the Vikings responded with a run in the second to even the score at 1-1.

The Vikings exploded for four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good that included a Neal Tolbert 2-run double.

FPD added a run in the sixth when Hunter Hotchkiss hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Sam Pope as well as a run in the seventh on a Perry fielding error that brought home Scott McCormick.

The Vikings also defeated the Perry Panthers 11-8 on Feb. 27 at home.

The Vikings are back in action on Friday, March 1, traveling to Crawford County High School for a scheduled double-header. First pitch is set for 4:15 p.m. and game two will follow at 6:15 p.m.
