Girls Soccer Claims the 2013 Viking Cup Over Veterans

MACON, Ga. – Continuing its impressive start to the 2013 campaign, the First Presbyterian Day School girls soccer team (4-0) defeated Veterans High School 1-0 on Saturday, March 2 to claim the 2013 Viking Cup.

Katey Griggs scored the lone goal of the game for the Lady Vikings to secure the victory.

FPD defeated Treutlen High School on Thursday and Strong Rock on Friday to advance to the title game versus Veterans on Saturday night.

The Lady Vikings recorded three shutouts in the tournament and outscored opponents 13-0 en route to being crowned tournament champions.

Collectively on the season, FPD has recorded four consecutive shutouts and outscored its opposition 23-0.

The girls soccer team returns to the field on Tuesday, March 5, traveling to play in the Bulldog Cup against Perry High School at Mary Persons. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
