Baseball Claims 14th Straight Win with Region Victory Over Wilkinson County

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School baseball team set a new school record for consecutive wins to start a season on March 25, defeating Pacelli 10-6.

Now, just over a week later, the Vikings (14-0, 7-0 Reg. 7A) broke that record by claiming its 14th straight victory of the 2013 campaign, a 9-1 region win over Wilkinson County on Tuesday, April 2.

Senior Hunter Hotchkiss blasted a 2-run home run in the third inning to propel the Vikings to victory. Hotchkiss and teammates Sam Pope and Tanner Johnston each had two RBI’s on the evening as well.

Joshua Weaver (5-0) recorded the victory on the mound for FPD. The senior tossed three innings of shutout baseball while striking out eight and walking none.

Along with Weaver’s success on the mound, FPD relievers Sam Jones, Kevin Moreau and Hotchkiss combined for four innings of work and struck out nine Warrior batters.

FPD led 4-0 after the third inning and 9-0 heading into the top of the 7th.

The Vikings outhit Wilkinson County 11-3 and played errorless defense on the day.

FPD returns to the diamond on Friday, April 5, traveling to play Glascock County in a region game at 5 p.m.
