Baseball Pushes Winning Streak to 15 After Extra-Inning Victory at Glascock

GIBSON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School baseball team broke a school record for consecutive wins to start a season that was set just five days ago, winning 4-2 at Glascock County in eight innings to earn its 15th straight victory.

The Vikings (15-0, 8-0 Reg. 7A) scored the game-winning run when Will McCormick reached on an error, scoring Dylan Stokes. A single by senior Scott McCormick, Will’s brother, also added an insurance run to give FPD a 4-2 lead.

Glascock put two runners on base in the bottom of the eighth, but Sam Jones struck out the game’s final batter to secure the win. Jones (2-0) was also credited with the win in relief.

FPD lead 2-0 throughout much of the contest, but Glascock answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to deadlock the game at 2-2.

The Vikings outhit Glascock County 7-4 on the night. FPD forced the Panthers into committing five errors as well.

FPD’s win against Glascock County is the second this season. The Vikings previously defeated the Panthers 12-1 at home on March 12.
