Boys Tennis Claims Area 1 Championship, Girls Finish Fourth

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School boys and girls tennis teams were in action on Monday, April 22, hosting the semifinals and finals of the GHSA Class A Private Area 1 Tennis Tournament.

At Tattnall Square Park, the boys tennis team took first place, defeating Savannah Country Day School 3-1 to earn the GHSA’s automatic bid to the Class A State Tournament.

The Vikings (18-0) got singles victories from Daniel Strawn and Miller Durham along with a doubles win from Brooks Hanson/Tristan Hilyer to seal the win.

The victory is also the first Area Championship for boys tennis as a member of the GHSA.

A few miles away at Mercer University, the Lady Vikings fought hard, but took fourth place on the day. FPD will still advance to the State Tournament as the no. 4 seed from Area 1.
