Conner Albright Signs with Georgia College

MACON, Ga. – First Presbyterian Day School senior golfer Conner Albright signed a national letter of intent to play collegiate golf with Georgia College today, April 30, in the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on the campus of FPD.

The signing is the first this season for the FPD golf program.

Albright has been a key fixture in the golf lineup over the years at FPD. Already this season, the senior has placed third at the GHSA Area 1 Match on April 22 in Columbus, firing a team-low 73 on the day.

“Conner has dedicated himself over the past five years to becoming a better golfer and that is why we are here today,” FPD head golf coach Matt Kitchell said. “We truly hope this is just the beginning for him and we are very proud of him.”

As a junior n 2012, Albright helped lead the Vikings to a seventh place finish in the GHSA State Tournament by placing third. In that same year he also finished in second place at the Junior PGA Wilmington Island Tournament.

Albright led FPD to its first golf region title as a member of the GHSA in 2011, claiming second place in the region tournament and later third at the GHSA State Tournament. He also finished in third place in the Junior PGA Championship Tournament that year.

2010 saw the golf accolades start to build for Albright as the Vikings placed second in the region tournament and third at state in the final year of GISA competition.

Albright is not limited to just golf, though. The multi-sport athlete competed in football for FPD this past season as kicker and earned 2nd-Team All-State honors. He was also named the Special Teams Player of the Week by The Macon Touchdown Club in Week 3.

Albright’s signing marks the ninth FPD senior that has signed collegiately this year.

The FPD boys golf team returns to the links on Monday, May 6 at the GHSA Sectionals at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics, home to multiple region and state championships in both the GISA and GHSA, strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while continuing to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory. Now a member of the GHSA, the Vikings have continued to provide FPD athletes, coaches, fans and spectators a positive, Christian environment on a daily basis.
