Darron Moore Signs with Concordia College

MACON, Ga. – First Presbyterian Day School senior football player Darron Moore signed a national letter of intent to play collegiate football with Concordia College today, April 25, in the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on the campus of FPD.

The signing is the first this season for the FPD football program.

Moore has played a pivotal role on the Viking football team throughout the years. The senior rushed for 969 yards in his final season and scored 13 touchdowns for the Vikings, who advanced to the GHSA State Playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Furthermore, Moore was a significant part of a historic night for the FPD football team on November 23, 2012. The Vikings won its first playoff game as a member of the GHSA, a 49-33 victory at Brookstone.

In that contest, Moore exploded offensively, rushing for 198 yards and four touchdowns in the Viking victory.

The fleet-footed back averaged 8.08 yards per carry this season as well.

“This is a great opportunity for Darron to continue to pursue his passion for football as a student-athlete,” Athletic Director and head football coach Greg Moore said. “I am really proud of all he has accomplished, and I can’t wait to see what great things he will continue to do in the upcoming years.”

Moore’s signing marks the eighth FPD senior that has signed collegiately this year. Golf’s Conner Albright will round out the athletic signings for the 2012-13 year on Tuesday, April 30.

The FPD football team kicks off the 2013 campaign on Friday, August 30, welcoming George Walton Academy to George S. Johnson Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics, home to multiple region and state championships in both the GISA and GHSA, strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while continuing to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory. Now a member of the GHSA, the Vikings have continued to provide FPD athletes, coaches, fans and spectators a positive, Christian environment on a daily basis.
