Weekend Sports Recaps: Soccer, Golf and Track (April 5-6)

MACON, Ga.  – The First Presbyterian Day School girls and boys soccer team, golf, and track and field teams were in action over the weekend, April 5-6.


SOCCER: The FPD girls soccer team picked up two wins in Savannah over the weekend. The Lady Vikings (12-1-1) defeated Calvary Day on Friday, April 5. Atalia Ramirez scored two goals in the match to give her 100 career goals. Jane Howell scored twice for FPD while Amy Morgan  and Katey Griggs each knocked in a score.

The Lady Vikings also won on Saturday, April 6, beating Savannah Arts 3-1.

The Vikings (8-5) split its weekend matches, claiming a 5-0 win on Friday, April 5 but falling 4-2 on Saturday, April 6.

In the win, Bradley Mullis netted a hat trick and Christian Moore scored a goal to lead the Vikings to victory.

The FPD soccer teams hit the road Tuesday, April 9, taking on Strong Rock at 5 and 7 p.m.


TRACK: The FPD girls and boys track team welcomed Fitzgerald High School to campus for a meet on Friday, April 5.

The girls picked up the win over Fitzgerald while the boys came in second place in the event.

The Lady Vikings edged out the Purple Hurricanes 66-63 while the Vikings fell by 10 points, 62.5-52.5.

The FPD track and field team returns to action on Wednesday, April 10, welcoming Georgia Military College Prep for a meet at 4 p.m.


GOLF: The FPD golf team hit the links this weekend, competing in a two-day tournament in Vidalia on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6.

The Vikings finished with a team score of 334 on Friday and shot a 326 on Saturday to close out the tournament.

The golf team returns to play on Monday, April 8, taking on Howard and West Laurens at Healy Point at 4 p.m.
