Boys Soccer Advances to Second Round of GHSA Playoffs with Win Over ELCA

MACON, Ga. – After securing a first-round home game in the GHSA state playoffs last week with a win over Brookstone, the First Presbyterian Day School boys soccer team knew the simple importance of  what Friday’s first round match versus Eagles Landing Christian Academy (ELCA) meant: win or go home.

The Vikings (11-6-1) rose to the occasion, shutting out the Lions 3-0 to advance to the second round of the GHSA State Playoffs.

Matthew Feagin scored the first goal of the match for Vikings with 25 minutes to play in the first half on an assist from Kevin Griggs.

FPD would go into the locker room up 1-0 over ELCA and would respond efficiently in the second period. Goals from Griggs and Christian Moore sealed the victory for the Vikings and a chance to play in second round of the GHSA State Tournament.

The Vikings will play at Athens Academy on Wednesday, May 8 at a time to be determined in the coming days. The Spartans earned a bye in the first round after winning its area regular season championship.

Check in the coming days for the official time of game.
