Boys Soccer Advances to Semifinals After Win Over Our Lady of Mercy

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. – Christian Moore knows that turning up the energy level in the playoffs is a must.

And he continued to do that on Saturday night, May 11, as the First Presbyterian Day School boys soccer team (13-6-1) defeated Our Lady of Mercy 1-0 on a goal by Moore to secure a spot in the GHSA State Semifinals.

The Vikings will now play at Hebron Christian on Wednesday night, May 15, with a time to be determined in the coming days.

Both teams battled to a 0-0- draw at the end of the first period.

But in the second period, Moore struck within the first 10 minutes of play off a pass from Bradley Mullis to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.

FPD’s defense hung on the rest of the game to seal the win and push the Vikings into the state semifinals.

Moore’s goal comes after his hat trick on Wednesday night at Athens Academy. Overall, the fleet-footed forward has five goals in the 2013 GHSA Playoffs in three games.

Hebron Christian defeated Fellowship Christian 2-1 to advance to the Final Four.
