Boys Soccer Wins at Athens Academy in Round Two of GHSA Playoffs

ATHENS, Ga. – Christian Moore took matters into his own hands and rest was history as the First Presbyterian Day School boys soccer team (12-6-1) kept its playoff hopes alive, winning its round two match at Athens Academy 5-2 on Wednesday night, May 8.

Moore pounded out three goals for the hat trick to power the Vikings past the Spartans to earn a spot in the third round of the GHSA State Playoffs. FPD will now play at Our Lady of Mercy on Saturday night, May 11.

Brad Powell and Bradley Mullis also netted goals for the Vikings in the victory, who were outshot by the Spartans 16-5.

Kevin Griggs had two assists on the night, while Conner Gettmann, Matthew Feagin and Moore each had one assist, respectively.

Senior keeper Jeremy Overman notched 11 saves in the win while the Spartan keeper had four stops.

Kickoff against Our Lady Mercy is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
