Girls Soccer Drops Final Four Match to Paideia to End 2013 Season

ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Atalia Ramirez knew that the bullseye was on the back of the Lady Vikings throughout the 2013 season after winning back-to-back state championships.

Still, the Lady Vikings remained focused in hopes of earning a spot in the GHSA State Championship game for a third straight year heading into Tuesday night’s semifinal match against Paideia.

Those hopes, however, were not fulfilled as the Lady Vikings dropped its Final Four match to the Paideia Lady Pythons 2-1, bringing an end to the 2013 season.

Paideia’s Helen Samuel netted two goals, one in the first period and the second score in the second period, to advance the Lady Pythons to the GHSA State Championship game on Saturday, May 18.

Senior Atalia Ramirez scored the lone goal for the Lady Vikings in the games final two minutes.

The loss for the Lady Vikings marks the first against a school from Georgia since joining the GHSA back in 2011.

The FPD Athletic Department sincerely thanks the class of 2013 for their efforts and dedication over the years.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics, home to multiple region and state championships in both the GISA and GHSA, strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while continuing to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory. Now a member of the GHSA, the Vikings have continued to provide FPD athletes, coaches, fans and spectators a positive, Christian environment on a daily basis.
