Golf Lands Three on GHSA All-State Team

MACON, Ga. – The First Presbyterian Day School boys golf team landed three players on the GHSA All-State Team, announced Friday, May 31.

Brooks Stroud and Conner Albright made the All-State Team, while Brantley Wilson took home a spot as a Honorable Mention.

Stroud finished T-11 at the GHSA State Tournament, firing a 76.

“Brooks started out rough this year and I really felt for him,” head coach Matt Kitchell said. “He felt like he was really letting the team down, but he fought through it and had an outstanding postseason.”

Albright posted an 80 in the State Finals while Brantley Wilson paced the Vikings with a 75, finishing T-8.

“Conner led the team all year with consistent play,” Kitchell said. “We could always count on him to anchor our team.”

“Brantley shaved about five strokes off his score towards the end of the year and finished the season on a hot streak,” Kitchell said. “He’s only a sophomore, so he will be one to watch over the next two years.”

The Vikings had a memorable 2013 campaign, claiming the GHSA Class A State Runner Up, its highest finish in golf since joining the league in 2010.
