Golf Puts Six on All-Middle Georgia Team

MACON, Ga. – In a season that saw multiple tournament wins, a trip to the GHSA State Tournament and an eventual runner-up finish, the First Presbyterian Day School boys golf team reaped the benefits of solid play all year long.

That solid play has now led five members of the team to be honored by The Macon Telegraph as members of the 2013 All-Middle Georgia Team.

Conner Albright, Brooks Stroud and Brantley Willson all earned spots on the first team, with Stroud picking up his second appearance on the list overall.

“It was a great season,” head coach Matt Kitchell said. “We fought through some adversity and made a great run during the postseason.”

Honorable mentions included Dalton Taylor and Charles Stroud for FPD as well.

Rounding out the list for the golf team is Heidi Park, who competed in the Girls GHSA State Tournament as an individual after qualifying at sectionals.

Kitchell says despite losing the class of 2013, the future is bright for FPD golf.

“We will lose a lot,” Kitchell said. “But we also have a lot of guys and girls that will be able to step up and help us out next season.”
