Football Players Earn Pre-Season Awards

MACON, Ga. – First Presbyterian Day School senior football players Will Black and Caleb Samuel have picked up pre-season honors from various high school football publications.

Black, a team captain and fullback, was named to the All-State Class-A Team by Friday Night Football Magazine.

Furthermore, Black, along with fellow teammate Samuel, earned a spot on the All-Preseason Class-A squad by Georgia High School Football Daily.

“It’s great to see some of our guys getting some early attention, but right now we are focusing on getting our team ready to operate as a unit,” head football coach Greg Moore said. “If we take care of things on the field, even more accolades will come along for a lot of our kids, but the team comes first, and I’m sure Will and Caleb would say the exact same thing.”

Both players look to lead a Viking squad back to the GHSA State Playoffs, a spot where the Red & Black have been positioned the past two seasons.

The Vikings kick off the 2013 campaign on Friday night, August 30, welcoming the George Walton Academy Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory as a member of the Georgia High School Association.
